All the News that Fits May 2020

Hello neighbors, a lot going on in Austin. We try to inform folks of events impacting the ‘hood. We also try and update events/happenings from our neighbors.
Missing something, let us know. Thanks

Update 05-20-2020
Healthy Streets initiative
The first batch of streets to be closed to vehicular traffic in as part of Austin’s new Healthy Streets initiative will be blocked off beginning Friday.
The streets include Bouldin Avenue, South Third Street and Garden Villa from Bannister Lane to Barton Springs Road; Comal Street from Lady Bird Lake to Manor Road; and the Country Club Creek Trail Extension, which includes part of the trail itself and portions of Wickersham Lane, Ventura Drive and Madera Drive from Mabel Davis Park to Lakeshore Drive.
All three closure areas essentially connect neighborhoods in South Central, East and Southeast Austin to the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail, or come within a couple of blocks. That gives people more space to exercise, whether they hit the trail or not, while offering a safer route for people commuting to the downtown area on bike or on foot.
The streets will be blocked off with signs, cones or barricades to discourage vehicular traffic except for area residents, emergency vehicles and deliveries, Austin transportation director Robert Spill said in a memo to the mayor and City Council.
“The first batch of Healthy Streets will be closely monitored to ensure they are operating safely and meeting the needs of the community,” Spillar wrote

BCNA Steering Committee meeting.  Monday May 4, 2020   This will be a virtual meeting via Zoom.  More information soon.

Note that April Association meeting was canceled!
Note from BCNA Officers
Hi Neighbors,
The Association Officers are in discussion regarding having an informal Neighborhood Zoom meeting – one neighbor has an account that can host 100 people (doubt if we would have that many). This would likely be an unofficial meeting, as we’ve already cancelled the actual meeting.
Please stay tuned – hoping we can get something going.
Thanks, Ronnie D, Treasurer

BCNA virtual Association Meeting was held Tuesday, April 21st at 6:45pm. Along with Steering Committee members we had ~16 neighbors sign in.
An experiment during our weird times.

Bouldin Bulletin
Hot off the press is the April-May Bouldin Bulletin.
The same good stuff you might have read while drinking a cup of coffee —but in digital form. HERE.
Thanks to John Shobe, our Publisher and Rob Clayton our web admin.,for bringing us into a new world of digital publishing – a potentially more mobile-friendly, color, version of the Bouldin Bulletin.
This issue of the Bouldin Bulletin is to be distributed ONLINE ONLY – in order to prevent unnecessary contact among neighbors and delivery volunteers.
