Becker Green Classroom-Garden Gala on May 3rd.
Dear Bouldin Neighbors,
Please join us Friday, May 3rd from 5:00 – 7:30, as we host our 4th annual Garden Gala and Make-O-Rama, in the Becker Green Classroom Garden on Briar and on the Becker school front lawn and circle drive on Milton. This family-friendly event features a 3rd grade Master Chef Salsa Challenge, a 4th grade Farm Stand as well as tastings, takeaways and handmade items for purchase from all of our classroom gardens. In addition, the event includes the Becker Elementary student Make-O-Rama showcase and Green Runway show, free maker stations, face painting, and a silent auction. Local food truck, Gold Epicure will sell food, Lick Ice Cream will be there for dessert, and students will entertain us with their musical abilities.
The goals of the Garden Gala are to raise funds for our operating costs, to promote community, sustainability and healthy lifestyles, and to increase awareness of our incredible garden and volunteer involvement so that all children at our school can have the opportunity to participate.

If you would like to get involved, we are still seeking event sponsors and donations for the silent auction. Please contact Rhonda McGaughey at bgcgalasponsor@gmail.com or call 512-470-6514 for more information.

Due to all the pedestrian activity on Milton in front of the school, we will use parking cones and other traffic deterrents from approximately 4:00 p.m. until the end of the Gala. Please contact us with any concerns.
Sincerely,
The Becker Green Classroom Steering Committee

Rally Around the Hood @ the South 1st Street Food Court
May 4, 2019 10am-noon

Saturday, May 4th will be a special day at the corner of 1st Street and Live Oak, where Bouldin Creek residents John and Lisa Weinberger are coordinating a trifecta: getting the neighbors together, supporting our local food court and raising awareness about a featured charity –Swan Songs.
Swan Songs is dedicated to fulfilling musical last wishes for people near the end of life and paying musicians to perform for them. The neighborhood is invited to share the festivities. The local chapters of the Ferrari Club of America and the Alfa Romeo Owners Club will display a selection of exotic Italian cars while local musicians perform. The bill will include Christine Albert, the founder of Swan Songs, who also plays at El Mercado on Mondays, and Chris Gage, her husband and musical partner. Former S. 2nd St. resident Andy Garseaand Cody Jo Hodges will also perform. They’ve warned us to be on the lookout for special musical guests.
Come to the event to learn more about Swan Songs’ programs, such as the “Gift of Song” program, where friends and relatives can commission a song written by a professional songwriter based on someone’s life, customized to reflect their personal story and unique contribution to the world. You can get in touch with them through their website. Melynda Nuss
