27th Annual BCNA Creek Cleaning 2018-03-03

“Big Fun in the greenbelt on Saturday – thanks to Ingrid with her mighty network of connections and organizational abilities, and all the folks who pitched in!”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Ronnie D                                                                                                                            BCNA Parks Committee

“More than  80 neighbors and community volunteers met at the West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt for the 27th Annual BCNA Creek Cleaning Party yesterday morning. Together we removed over 120 bags of trash, as well as tents, clothing, carpet remnants, cardboard and small electronics. In addition, the abundance of nandina, a fast-spreading non-native bush, was reduced by at least half. Hint – there is a lot more to take out…

The weather held up and everyone had a very good time. For quite a few participants, this was the first time they had spent in our wonderful greenbelt..

We finished off the morning with a delicious lunch from Lucy’s on South Congress: fried chicken, pickles, mashed potatoes, cole slaw. We had neglected to bring eating utensils, but found out that wooden coffee stirs make great chopsticks that worked just fine.…

Thank you every one who helped, especially the team leaders!

Sincerely,
